RADIATA TOOL BOX BRIEF

Students of Design In Wood (Non Pre-Tertiary) were given the task of making an old-style tool box in radiata pine.  The tool box was to be entirely crafted using only unpowered handtools.  Students had to make their mortise and tenons and dovetails as straight and tight as possible then nail on a plywood base, sand and oil the finished product.  It was a very challenging project and caused a lot of headaches and frustrations for many of the students.  Only a few students succeeded in finishing the box without using power tools.  These are some of the boxes that were finished with hand tools only.
